oooh, you're going to a Linkin Park concert? Take me with you!!! (ok, so I don't even know any of their songs really, but they're not bad, and I've never really been to a concert for anything other than some band field trips to see various orchestras... if that even counts...*sighs*)

Cool ^_^ thanks. But you know, if we go to the mall again, which would be fun, I forbid you from buying me anything. Azumanga Daioh was enough (btw, it came with these adorable Chiyo-chan and Warui Kuroneko pins... really cute ^_^). btw, I asked my mom about getting a wooden sword, she said "we'll see" - parental unit code for "no way in hell" ^_^'

[glow=red,2,300]A band that I think everyone here should totally check out is Flaw. It might be hard to get ahold of their CD but it is defiantly worth it! I found out about them through rurouni05.[/glow]

not a fan of linkin park. never was i do happen to love cradle of filth, midian and anything they did before that is pure gold. i love them for musical reasons only. haha.
i listen to/know about FAAAARRRR too many bands for my own good... i own.. i believe its around 635 cds. 162 physically, and 473 (full albums) on my computer.
bands i think everyone should check out:
Saetia (intense, yet lovely music) Godspeed You! Black Emperor (epic, trance inducingly awesome instrumental band) Explosions in the Sky (epic instrumental band with just guitar/bass/drums) Minsk (awesome doom) Pelican (intense, epic, doom) The Number Twelve Looks Like You (genre bending metal/screamo) Pig Destroyer (amazing grindcore) Velvet Underground (chill/stoney/middle eastern influenced 60s/70s band) Discordance Axis (japanese grind) Melt Banana (japanese, female fronted hardcore/grind) Envy (japanese, epic metal-influenced screamo) Mono (japanese, wonderful doom/instrumental music) Devendra Banheart (wonderful amazing folk/hippie music) Bright Eyes (funfunfunfun) Moment (the best aggressive emo/pop punk band EVER) The One AM Radio (amazing, chilled out music. songs are positively beautiful) Sigur Ros (words can't describe, just listen to them) Soltero (boston based folk/rock. very cool)
and a bit of shameless self promotion.. my bands hehehe
there i think i've got a bit of everything there... metal, grind, instrumental, folk, pop punk, and even some japanese bands that are flippin' amazing (namely d.a., envy, and mono)
just trying to spread word of bands that deserve more attention.

Wow. I don't believe I've heard of any of those bands 0.o Not even the Japanese ones, and most of what I listen to is J-pop or J-rock.
But, then, I'm a loser. I haven't heard of half the well-known bands out there, much less the ones people don't know of.
Personally, I'm a fan of a whole bunch of J-pop and J-rock bands that no one will have ever heard of unless they watch a lot of anime. My personal favorites include: BUCK-TICK (j-rock, some gothic-ish music, too. My favorite song has to be Dress (Bloody Trinity Mix), the opening theme to Trinity Blood)
Rie Fu (although I only like a few of her songs, the rest aren't that great IMO. Try Life is Like a Boat. Very pretty),
Ide Yasuaki (who sang parts of the s-CRY-ed soundtrack - and sings the only song I have managed to pull off a decent karaoke version of. J-rock)
I'm also in love with the Rurouni Kenshin OVA soundtrack, because I love good flute solos (*is a flautist*) and orchestral pieces. I so desperately want my school's band to play War of the Last Wolves.
But alas, here I am drawing the non-anime board into a discussion on anime soundtracks. I'm so one-track... -.-'

ah yeah, they're not really j-rock or j-pop, haha.. the most user-friendly one is either mono or envy... that is unless you enjoy very very very fast grind with someone screeching over all of it, then discordance axis is it.
just curious, did anyone check out any of those bands i listed? i'm interested to hear some opinions, or if anyone liked any of them.
