so one of the upsides to taking a year off before i start college is that i've got time on my hands. time to watch more movies, write more, etc etc etc. so in keeping with the title of this particular board. i'll say what i've seen in the past two weeks..
castle in the sky - much better than i thought it would be. for some reason when i watch a miyazaki movie i want to think he can't do as good as mononoke and spirited away. well in this case, i'd say he did do just as good.
doomed megalopolis - not as good as i had hoped. i wasn't a fan of the style it was drawn, so to say. also it just felt like it was lacking something. maybe a personality?
the weathering continent - just all around good. cheesy-as-hell ending but that aside.. it was alright.
kare kano (his and her circumstances) - i normally do not enjoy anime that has to do with "every day" life.. but for some reason i just think this one is cute as... er... something that is cute.
voices of a distant star - excellent. too vague at some points, but other than that it was wonderful.
ah. gotta love On Demand, and my blockbuster movie pass. the only two reasons i've watched that many movies. also outside of anime i might recommend that everyone on this board take some time to watch a movie by takashi miike (izo, ichi the killer, visitor q, one missed call).. the guy is amazing.
ah, my ride for band practice is on its way.. i guess i should end this post.

Ah, Voices of a Distant Star is excellent, you say? I bought it a little while back for like 3 bucks at an ADv films holiday clearance sale because I heard some good things about it, but I haven't managed to watch it. I'm such a bum. Actually, I have a whole massive stack of DVDs I bought on clearance that I still need to watch but haven't managed to -.-
Heard of the rest of those (except the Weathering Continent.. what's that?), but haven't seen them. Of course, that's my life story when it comes to anime. I've heard of most of it, know what a great deal of things are about, but have not actually seen them.

Correction to my last statement, I found "Audition" in the Forgien Films section of Borders... very creepy, and yet sad... Very good! I also got the Uncut Special Edition...so that may be why... He is a genius...
oh, and I've seen Voices of a Distant star, yeah I must say it is a little vague at some points. Advice for people who want to see if, don't watch it after watching 4 DigiCharat DVDs...it just... ruins the mood...

i've yet to see audition. i'll have to look for it.
recently i watched all of the "Record of Lodoss War" series. its pretty freakin awesome. totally reminds me of an oldschool final fantasy game/any generic rpg.. corny at some points.. but really good overall.

Sounds interesting enough, I am curious how they make alien gore though, would it be green and blue or would it be red like our gore?

Sounds interesting enough, I am curious how they make alien gore though, would it be green and blue or would it be red like our gore? I'm sure it would be blue-green, like octopus blood, seeing as aliens always seem to look like bizarre humanoid sea creatures with large heads. *nods* ...because I'm such an expert on aliens -.-' *insert extreme sarcasm* Although, seeing as that strange, psychotic creature that claims to be my sister probably is one, I should be

nope. good ol fashioned red human blood. cause the aliens are disguised as people.

And this must be a very good disguise if they can change the color of their blood as well.

good.. maybe.. convincing.. no. they all act mildly retarded, actually replace mildly with 'noticably'

Well, so much for a disguise then, they'll all get stuck in Special Ed. classes and we'll kill them with boredom. At least then there's no threat of invasion.

more recent viewings of mine:
full metal panic - seems good, i don't know if i'll like it as much as other stuff i've seen though
elfen lied - awesome. just awesome.. i'm pretty sure i have to buy this series.
witch hunter robin - pretty entertaining.. almost gets boring but says mildly interesting with storyline, i'm not one for the action.. most action i like has to be like.. REALLY intense.
alot of really boring stuff - really boring, and lame.

I liked Witch hunter Robin... but I didn't get a chance to see every single episode, since the time that I saw it was 1 am or something really early in the morning, so i had to sneak down to see it, I liked it, some parts didn't make sense, though I didn't really find it boring...
I've been wanting to see Elfen Lied for quite a while after hearing that song... Lilium or something, I don't really know, but it was really prety ^.~

Watch Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu? it's completely hilarious. I never watched Full Metal Panic so I don't know how it coincides, but it in itself is definately worth watching.

"Fumo, fumo, fumo, fumo, fumo, fumo! Fumo, fumo, fumo, fumo, fumo, fumo! Fumo, fumo! Fumo, fumo!" Repeat. XD This is an exampple of just how wacked that show is. They sing this. Repeatedly. (I sing this. Repeatedly.) It's hilarious.
