I've finally completed the Suzumebachi for my little sister's upcoming Soi FOng cosplay, so I figured I'd share pictures. I think it came out pretty good, if I do say so myself ^.^ But I would like feedback, if anybody has any. Or random comments. Comments are always nice to read.
I should also note that this is one of the items that Redheaded Being and I are intending to sell when we open up our cosplay accessory shop; we're thinking of charging somewhere in the neighborhood of $15 - $20 for one (most of that is materials cost). Do you guys think that's a reasonable price? Would anyone buy one?
If you care about the construction elements, the base was made from craft foam, painted in arcrylic, varnished in polyurethane, and the lacing is done with a thin black ribbon, threaded through eight eyelets. The underside of the eyelets is covered in felt to keep it from digging into the skin; it is tied on pretty tight. The finger piece stays on by means of two little elastics glued to the underside, and the two are connected by a few inches of brass-plated chain. Which, by the way, was hell to cut.
So anyway, this is the finished product, on my arm. Yes, I know my arm is probably odd-looking and my hands are in wonky positions (we were trying to get the best view of Suzumebachi, not my hands). They haven't been doctored except to take out some background junk (some of my brother's legos were on the floor in one shot, in another you could see my other hand and pink fuzzy sweater and it looked stupid. But the Suzumebachi wasn't edited. I apologize that they're not commercial-quality - I can only do so much with my little digital camera.
What think you all?
