And in the mean time, I have this, which isn't anywhere near done, (the fan's horrible), but I wanted to post it anyway because I feel that I have finally done Urahara some justice. The other pics that I did didn't do him much justice, they don't really look like him enough for me to be happy with them, but I think I finally got one that does. img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/orochimaru-chan/kisuke.pngOh, and I believe my space problem has probably been solved, probably anyway.......

Aha! I am finally alive and available for commenting in detail.
ZOMG, it's Kisuke. The shadows under his eyes pwn. so. much. On a more serious note, you camptured his mysteriousness-yet-crazy/happy personality really well with that expression and pose. The line art's a little choppy, but then, you were using a mouse, so that's forgiveable. You might want to try inking it by hand though; it might come out smoother. And I demand that you color it. As soon as possible.
Now, back to Byakuya. The shadows are very crisp and nicely done on his face, but the shirt seems a little flat. I mean, you have all that deep shadow on the left side of his face, and almost nothing on the shirt. I'm aware that skin has more depth and dimension to it than flat fabric, but his shirt looks too flat. However, I love the way you colored his eyes and hair; they're so pretty ^.^

My experience with cel-shading is not exactly far reaching, so I'm still getting used to it. I'm really happy I was able to get the hair done right, though Byakuya's hair is rather linear, I'll probably have a harder time with either Urahara's or Ichigo's. Clothes kinda screw me up, but I'm still gonna keep trying, and as for line art, I am rather limited to the pencil tool since I'm apparently completely unable to use the brush tool to make line art, and the pen tool is too rigid, you can't get the soft curves with it very easily. And with the Urahara pic, I'm not sure if I'm done with the line art yet, so I'd actually like an opinion on whether it needs anything more or not. But ignore the fan, that thing's not going to get any better, I'll just have to color it in a way that'll make sense. img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/orochimaru-chan/kisukewip2.png

That's why I suggest hand-inking over being stuck with a pencil tool ^.^ At least hand-inking can produce curves that aren't so pixelly. And you can get decent fine-tipped inking pens from an art supply store for only a few bucks. Cel-shading, I have concluded, is very interesting. Which reminds me that I have to post that picture of Goku I was working on later today on the art board ('course, if it were up to my sister, there would be an entire board dedicated solely to Goku, but that isn't gonna happen...). Anyway, coloring clothes is nothing short of evil. Probably more than anything else, the shading is extremely subjective. There are so many stupid variables - fabric type, weight, light angle, wrinkles and folds... yeah. Evil. Hands are pretty bad, too, but at least it's easy to find a reference for hands, as most people have them.
As for Kisuke, the thing that really stands out to me is the two fingers - all the other lines are so bold that they make his fingers look kinda like they're plugged in as an afterthought. You might also want to close up the gaps in Hat-san's stripes, if only to make it look less broken up and scribbly. Generally, though, the bold lines in the outline look really cool -really stylistic, but in a good way.

I have like no money right now, and especially none to spend on pens. I think I have like 4 dollars and I need to buy gum and baggies. Also, printing out a pic, inking it, and then scanning it back in seems rather tedious and annoying to me, so I'll probably never do it unless I really want to. But my drawing skills on paper have been failing me lately since I've started drawing with a mouse, I've only been able to do head shots of original characters as of late
Clothes are indeed evil, it's a little easier to cel-shade them when you have most of them in the picture, but if it's just a bust and little of the clothes are shown it gets a lot harder, and hands, I don't know, I never had a lot of trouble with hands. I did for a few poses but I just used my own hand to figure it out.
Yeah, I know about the 2 fingers, I tried to do something with them before, but it didn't work. I'm gonna have to try something else and I'll probably fix the hat.

Well, if you ever have a few spare dollars, you can buy an inking pen for like $2.50. ... and gum is really bad for you, by the way. If you chew too much, you suffer from frequent stomachaches... some chemical they put in it But alas, I'm not here to lecture people about the dangers of gum. I would argue that it's tedious to try and draw on a computer if you don't have a mouse. Seems easier to do by hand. You're lucky you can at least draw head shots. All I've drawn in the past week is various doodles of 003, that little owl of Watari's o.0' But I have a piece from a little while back that I want to scan & color... it's not an exceptionally good drawing, tho' It's hard for me to use my hand for a reference when I draw male characters. My fingers are very long and thin, and, as people have put it, I "give Renji woman hands." Weird.

I definitely don't have any money as of right now, the money I do have needs to go toward payment on my credit card, and I've never heard of gum damaging you before, it's never happened to me or to anyone else I know that chews gum more even more than me. But that might be if you chew a lot of different brands or something. I suppose instead of saying tedious, I should have commented on how fixated I can be. I get very set in my ways and am very content with doing things a harder way if a different way doesn't appeal to me. Although there has been a nagging voice in the back of my head to try printing a pic out and doing the line art by hand. I've been drawing my personal original character as of late as well as more Kingdom Hearts 2 fan art, most of it's just sketch stuff, the skeletons I use are visible in most of them even, but I need to scan it right now and that's like 5 pages, but no of that really matters on this forum unless someone really wanted to see it, but there is a picture of Ichigo on one of the pages. I might bother to post that here, though it would seem out of place if it was just alone, I need to draw Renji again........ You have prissy looking hands don't you, my friend does too. Mine aren't really so I guess it might be easier, but I like my hands......anyway. Women hands, hmm, when most people have trouble with hands, it's because they make them too small, like on that last picture of Renji that you drew, the hands are rather small, men on they're own have generally larger hands. You could just try drawing hands bigger, if you make the wrists thicker then the hands will be bigger too. The way I draw, I compare things to other things, it helps me with proportion, other than drawing a skeleton anyway, I always remember to make my hands around the same size as the face since well, a hand is similar in size anyway. This would almost be easier if I just bothered to draw a guide, hmmm, you could always resort to drawing 'mitten' hands too, a lot of people I know do that because they can't draw hands, when I draw them I usually start with an outline, or at least I try to, and then fill in the fingers later, sometimes it can take me a few times to get the pose right, or if I screw up on one finger, I may have to re-draw the whole hand. I started coloring the Urahara pic. In, again, a completely different coloring style. This is as far as I've gotten. I've been getting lazy lately. I keep getting sick from the dust in my room because I've been disturbing it from packing. I've also been relatively unmotivated, which sucks..... img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/orochimaru-chan/uranewcolorwip.jpg

Oh, credit card bills. I see. And yeah, gum is generally detrimental to your health. But you have to chew like ... a lot for it to hurt. Like more than a piece a day. Either way, I'm not fond of gum, so I don't chew it. Well, even if it doesn't apply to the Bleach board, we still have a general art board that you could post it on, if you'd like. I post stuff there on occasion, when my fan art/OC art doesn't fit into any of the other boards. I don't quite know if I would call my hands "prissy" (they're a little too chewed up), but they are pretty slim and my fingers are very long. Comes in handy for playing the flute, but not so useful when you have to draw male characters. I end up drawing their hands too small simply because I have no good reference for larger hands (although, actually, my hands are fairly large, they're just very thin and long, so it's deceptive) or thicker wrists, so I end up drawing things wrong. Same thing with legs; I usually draw them too long because all the references I have (that is, my immediate family and best friend) have very long legs. As for drawing in hands, I usually start by blocking in all the elements of the drawing, including the palms of the hands. I always fill in the fingers later. And a stretched out hand may be teh size of the face, but a fist is only maybe the size of a cheek. Kisuke looks good ^.^ Can't wait to see the finished version. For I love Kisuke and good Kisuke fan art is always nice to see.

Well, I could buy pens, or I could buy some Bleach merchandise. I think the answer to that is fairly obvious. And having a credit card is the only good thing about being 19, it's not like this age will get me anything better. And I can see gum hurting you if you like swallow it, or maybe it does something to your teeth, but I don't know about it ever doing anything else, and if it was just teeth, I highly doubt it'll matter for me since it's not like my teeth are going to get any worse than they are right now.
I probably will post in the other board, simply because I am alone and bored all day long. I'm not in school so all I do all day is either draw or play Kingdom Hearts 2. I'm almost at 100 hours in that game......
And I used to have a lot of problems with proportion, for a few years actually. I use skeletons to make sure I do things right now. Also, things can come out poorly due to body parts not matching in style. It's a little hard to explain, but basically a pic will look right if it's done in the same style, that's why manga like Shaman King can get away with looking good. As long as the proportion is correct, the style will follow. All I can say about that is not to copy other mangaka's art style and instead find your own, if you want practice then copy it, but start fiddling with it to make it your own. That's how I got my style now, although I can draw in a few other styles, I normally use the same one all the time. Oh, about legs, usually from the waist down to the shoes should be about a real inch taller than the upper body to the head, there are exceptions like with children, but thats usually how I draw it. And it's true that a fist can be small, but from different perspectives, it can appear to be different sizes.

You may go with the Bleach, but I pick the pens ^.^ I can download the manga and anime scans and subs, sew my own plushies, costumes, etc. and have little use for posters ever since my dear mother undecorated my poor room -.-' I'm pretty much set for Bleach. But nothing can keep me from my fan art.
...Plus, my anime club elected Minazuki as its mascot, which is just awesome. So now I own a handmade Minazuki plushie. Not sure what that has to do with anything, but it's cool. There's also a paper mache Minazuki in the hallways of my school o.0 Go figure.
Actually, gum helps clean your teeth. But it also contains attidives that are bad for your stomach. Swallowing it isn't good for you either, elthough those stupid rumors that it never leaves your digestive system or that it takes three years to digest or whatnot are stupid. Stomach acids can eat through aluminum (and turn hamburgers purple!), gum takes no more than a few days to digest. ...it occurs to me that this is a really random discussion topic.
I own basically two video games, both for gameboy color (I am so not a gamer. Really. The latest - and only - gaming system I own is the GBC. I have to go crawl in a hole of un-gaming loserishness now. And to boot, they're both really old Pokemon games. WIth that horrible Pokemon soundtrack that drives you insane if you listen to it too long. On the other hand, Dratini is the freakin' cutest thing), but one of them has over 700 hours on it ^.^' I figure that's gotta be some sort of record.
I do a lot of reproduction work for practice (and I've generally found I'm pretty good at it, unless it's Bleach repro work. Just can't mimic Kubo's style), but I do sort of have my own style. It's a little on the generic side, actually (I'm not good with extremely stylized art), but it is definitely its own. It's also very shounen-manga-ish, as opposed to my sister's more shoujo-influenced style. Which is altogether too fluffy for my taste. Seriously, though. It looks like... I don't know. Her style makes me think of cotton balls and Valentine's day o.0 Heck, I should just make her post something on the art board.
That one-inch rule doesn't work if you're drawing something really big or really small, though. But that's part of the reason I went and ordered those little wooden models, they have roughly correct proportions, so I don't need to reference my own hands and legs.
I know what you mean about uniform style, though, even if you're having a hard time explaining it. And to further the point, even a horribly out-of-proportion drawing can look good if it's stylistically appropriate. That's how chibis get away with looking so darn cute.

Hmm, let's see, I don't watch the anime because I don't prefer it, although, I did have to download a recent episode just to see the horrid clothes they shoved Renji in. I own all or almost all the manga in original Jump format, Tankoubon, and Graphic Novel. A character and animation books were released recently, but I need to wait for the Kinokuniya here to get them in. I stopped buying posters a long time ago since it's not like I can put them anywhere, all I have left is the ceiling and there aren't any Bleach wall scrolls that I like. I do however have the real color inserts from the chapters that I ripped out and then tapped together to put up. I don't actually own a lot of Bleach merchandise because I don't like how a lot of it looks. I have a few pencil boards and a clear file, but other than that and the plushies I have that live on my bed, all I have are 3 figures that I just got even. I was happy that I managed to get 3 different ones (random trading figures can be tricky) and that I managed to get both the Renji and Ichigo ones. I did cave a buy a thin pen though, only because I was promised some money this week and can use that to pay on my card, and also because I have some plans to do full head to toe pics and if I just scan them without inking, they'll never get done.
The anime club that we had at my high school was pretty lame, they just sat in a backroom of our library and watched anime at lunch. I never joined it because it was stupid and I didn't get along with a lot of the people that were in it, I also had basically either seen or didn't want to see all the anime they showed. And yeah that plushie you made was cool.
Yeah I really wouldn't think gum could hurt your teeth, particularly since I started chewing gum to try and save what is left of my teeth. They aren't in great shape, I'm not going to bother telling you exactly because you'll probably just be like everybody else I tell and think there's something wrong with me, but ever since I started chewing gum, my teeth don't hurt as much, which is nice. Oh and we don't have the money to send me to the dentist so don't comment on that, last time I was ever near a dentist, is was to get one of my back molars pulled, cost over 100 dollars.
I played Pokemon, in fact I own the newest game boy game of that, but anyway, I still remember when that came out, I was in 7th? Maybe late 6th grade when it got hugely popular. The bike ridding music is like insanity itself in those games, and I personally prefer Mew, but Dratini is cute too. And if you have 700 hours on the same save file then it is quite impressive, but it's highly possible to do something like that in a Pokemon game. In RPG's (role playing games) it's a bit harder because you run out of things to do. There aren't any mini-games, no more bosses to beat, your levels are all maxed out, you just run out of stuff to do.
I can't stand shojo stuff, it's so, fluffy, I really prefer shounen stuff myself. Most girls tend to have a more shojo-istic style, I hate that, so I've tried to get as far as possible away from it. I now have an extremely shounen style because of it, and I love it, although I can have a hard time drawing women because of it, although there's practically no women in my Original Storyline for me to draw anyway, except the main characters anyway. I was trying out some reproduction work for buff bodies, but I got off target and haven't been trying it out lately, I need to go back and try it out some more....
And the one inch rule will work if you consider the relativity of it. If on a normal pic it's one inch, then measure the space of the difference on the body and then match it up with the bigger pic. So if the difference goes from the top of the head to the middle of the chest, then on the bigger pic it'll be the same difference, even if it's not an inch.
Something like that happened to me one time, I had a pic that was colored poorly and possibly not even very proportionate, but people loved it simply because it was in a cel-shaded style. It kinda ticked me off since I didn't spend any time on this pic and it got a lot of attention, yet something I put like 5 hours into gets looked over. I'm also really bad at drawing chibis for some reason, never could draw them to come out looking right.

Yeah, that outfit's a bit odd-looking 0.o Funny, though. It makes me crack up ^.^ I watch the anime if only because I'm a very visual person. I like to watch things. Plus, getting to watch Kisuke and Ukitake and Ichigo run around is amusing. I have almost ever ychapter of the manga on my computer, but that doesn't stop me from buying it when they release it translated here. I also have a few posters and wallscrolls that I picked up cheaply at a convention and am now currently trying to think of an excuse to re-post on my wall. Poor wall. My dear mother stripped it of its postery-ness. *wibbles* ANd that is the num of my bleach merchandise. I wouldn't mind buying another scroll or poster, or one of those cool little Zabimaru keychains, though.
Our anime club is entirely populated by massive quantities of squeeing fangirls. It gets very hectic. But it is a lot of fun. We hold a cosplay contest each year, we plan on going to a convention in Long Island next month, and we have absolutely no budget, so we try to come up with creative ways of expanding it. They rarely work.
I don't tend to judge people by their teeth, you know. ^^ But people are entitled to their secrets.
The only versions I own are the TCG and Gold (and crystal, but that's practically the same game, so I don't count it). Gah, the bike music!! And the battle soundtracks! I don't mind the calmer music so much, but even that wears on you after awhile. Seriously, despite the cuteness, the Pokemon games deserve an award for WOrst SOundtrack EVer. Capitalized as so. And Mew is cute. So are a lot of the others. But I love Dratinis. Dragonairs, too, just not as much. Not as fond of Dragonite. Last time I checked, my gold version save file was at 707 hours. It frightens me. And I have some 41 different Pokemon at level 100 o.0
Soujo isn't so bad for me if it's done tastefully, but if it gets too psycho ZOMG pink luvvy o.0 I spaz. I don't mind most comedy shoujo series like Ouran High or Hana Kimi or whatnot. I just don't much like stories focused around romance, which most shoujo is. I cannot, however, draw shoujo-ey. I just can't. Doesn't mean I have trouble with women, which I don't (I find them easier to draw than men, actually, because I'm more familiar with female anatomy because, well, I'm a girl o.0)
People in general tend to have a very different opinion of a work of art than the person who drew/made it. People are weird like that. Some of my favorite pieces have been ignored, too ^.^
Chibis. Chibis are evil. I cannoy draw them. I've tried and tried again. It is an impossibility o.0 Right up there with shoujo drawing

I used to be able to sit an watch like, hours of anime in a row. Can't do it anymore, I get really fidgety for some reason. I've been using Bleach as background fodder for when I draw lately. Sometimes there just isn't any music I want to listen to and silence freaks me out, so I pull out Bleach now because Ichigo Mashimaro has gotten old. I have the manga scanlated on my computer too, I think I'm missing volumes 9 and 10 and around half of 11 though. I used to fight with my mom about putting up posters and such and after like 2 or so years of arguing about it I was finally able to do whatever I wanted to my room, since well, it is my room after all. Although now it doesn't matter much since we'll be moving soon and I'll have a whole new room to decorate to whatever extent I desire. *shudders* Fangirls, I, am not fond of fangirls...not even slightly. Though I myself can be considered a fangirl, I like to keep my dignity thank you. Besides, it's not like any of it's real you know. Some of my friends cosplay sometimes, I never did, never really wanted to. Though since my friends wanted me to, I told them if they make the costume I would. Nobody's had the money to cosplay as of recently though. Yeah, that's why I said it's entirely possible to play a Pokemon game that much. You can just sit around leveling pokemon forever, in RPG's you just run out of stuff to do. I find most shojo art poor in quality and boring, very ,very boring. I am usually not fond of things that are text driven, which, most of shojo is. And just because your a girl does not make it easier to draw women, if it did then I would be good at it too, although at this point it's either because I've tried harder with men, or I don't suck at drawing women as much as I think I do. I still think boobs and hips are hard to draw, though, I feel like I've gotten better at it lately. I should go and take over the artwork board here and post some stuff. I need to scan dangit...... I finished this finally, after putting it off a lot. I have no idea where I was going with that background, but, hey look, a background! Wheeeeeeeeeeee! img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/orochimaru-chan/Bleach_kisuke_bg.jpg

You know, come to think of it, I have had the same problem with anime lately. Can't watch it for mroe than an hour or two before I start running in circles around my house or whatever. Didn't really think much of it until you said that, but it's true. Combine that wit hthe fact that I'm always busy doing stuff, and I don't get to watch much anime these days. I have a good for or five DVDs that I still haven't watched, too, which is stupid.
And, frankly, I don't have much money to set aside for cosplay, either. But... WALMART o.0 They have freakishly cheap fabric. Especially the clearance-rack fabric. I got all the material I need to make my Kisuke haori for $3.50. Literally. And it's nice fabric. If it got any cheaper, they'd be giving it away for free.
Actually, to be honest, I accumulate most of my hours on my pokemon game trying to fall asleep ^.^' The soundtrack is so obnoxiously composed and the whole leveling process is so repetitive that I eventually conk out if I play the game - usually in about a half hour. So I mostly use the thing the same way people use books at night - to kill time and make onself tired. The only drawback is that I occasionally fall asleep with the gameboy still on and kill the batteries. Which is annoying, because then I have to go get new batteries.
I wouldn't necessarily agree that shoujo art is poorly drawn, it's just very femine, soft, and generally ill-proportioned. Very lanky, scrawny people with long necks, at least most of the time. Plus, I'm not terribly fond of romance. Romantic comedy's okay, but actual romance novels bore me to death.
Being a girl doesn't automatically make you good at drawing girls, and if I accidentally implied that, I didn't mean to. What I was trying to say is that for girls, drawing girls is a more familiar thing. People like to draw what they know, and for most girls, the type of person they know best is their own gender. It's true for guys, too. That doesn't hold true for everyone, of course, and practice can certainly switch it around (if all you ever draw is men, then you'll naturally become better at drawing men... which seems to be the case with you ^.^). But as a generalization, it tends to be that way.
Yes. Please take over the art board. It neeeeeeeeds you. And more artists in general. One of these days, I swear I'm going to go shamelessly plug my forums somewhere. Just need to find a place to do so.
Kisuke looks very nice; I especially love the shading on his haori. I do have issues with the background, though. The way you dodged it makes it look like the light source is in back, but you have the shading on Kisuek showing the lighting in front, a little above, and off to the side a bit. Just doesn't sit right with me.

We don't really have Wal-Marts out here, there's I think 2 in waaaaaaaaaay northern California and then there might be some down south near L.A. or San Diego, but that's it. They're everywhere in Oregon though. We have Targets and K-Marts around here, although they took our K-mart out of our town and now we have to drive 20 mins to the closest Target if we want to go to that kind of store.
I used to do that, but I'd always end up getting into the game and then not fall asleep anyway. I'm up all night anyway now, but one of the best games to play if you want to fall asleep is a Harvest Moon game. They're on the Gameboy Advanced though. But you constantly are doing the same repetitive motion in those games so it can get mind numbing and you end up falling asleep.
Yes, Romance = text, and text = boring. I can't stand text driven things. And the only romantic comedies that are good are Full Metal Panic Fumoffu and Fruits Basket, before America pounded it into the ground and before the Mangaka made the storyline all loopy.
I'll agree to the fact that I do draw men a lot. It's mostly due to the fact that I don't like most, if not all, women and or girls in anime. I don't particularly care for them. I'm also rather bad at designing women, which would obviously put a halt to me even drawing original ones. But I do have some regardless of that.
I will post stuff in the artwork board whenever I get around to it, some of it will be original stuff and some will be fanart.

No WalMarts? I pity you. Although, come to think of it, WalMart is probably more of an east coast thing. I have like 3 or 4 within a half hour drive, so I kinda just take them for granted ^.^' We have K-Marts and Targets, too, but not so many Targets. Can't think of any close by, at least. Either way, they don't sell fabric in either. Seriously, though, if you can find a department-type store with a fabric department, that's the best way to go for fabric shopping.
Don't have a GBA, although my brother does (he won't loan it to me, though), so there's no point in me investing $30 or so in a sleep-inducing game when I have a perfectly good version of Pokemon Gold to bore me to tears ^.^'
FMP!Fumoffu isn't really shoujo, though, is it? I only watched the anime, haven't read the manga, but I don't recall it being terribly shoujo. As for romantic comedies, I'm also fond of Rurouni Kenshin (which is definitely not shoujo), Hana-Kimi, and Ouran HS Host Club (which is shoujo, but not so much romance as comedy. Lots of comedy. And cross-dressing.)
And I can agree with you about the women of anime. They tend to be a little annoying. And they often enough wear outfits that barely cover them -.-' makes cosplaying within my gender rather difficult, since I'm not one to run around with a lot of skin exposed. Hence, I ended up being a crossplayer. Currently a rather irked crossplayer, since I just lost my ticket to the ComicCon and have now invested a large portion of Feb. break making a costume I won't get to wear for at least a month -.-'

I really don't prefer Wal-Mart, I'm not even slightly fond of them despite them apparently being dirt cheap on everything. But I can't even sew, so I don't know the point of me going to buy fabric.
Harvest Moon is a really good series regardless of it being about farming, yes, farming. You farm, that's it. And despite it's repetitiveness is a lot of fun to play.
Fumoffu is categorized as a romantic comedy, while the other 2 seasons of anime are indeed shounen, and horridly boring by the way, I wouldn't recommend watching any of it. But I've never heard of a shounen romantic comedy, just because the main character is male, doesn't make it shounen per say. And Kenshin isn't a romantic comedy either, it's a shounen fight manga, no romantic comedy has that much blood in it.
Yeah, cosplaying women is tricky sometimes, my friends don't care too much about exposing some skin despite most of them being a little over weight, but I won't, even slightly, I wear baggy clothes actually, I can stand tight stuff, it's too confining. One of my problems with cosplaying is hair though, if nobody wants to cut their hair, then you have to find characters that'll fit them. That sucks about your ticket, I still need to pre-register for fanime con before the price goes up again.
And I forgot to mention, but the light behind Urahara is suppose to kind of be energy coming off of him and make it more mysterious or something. In truth I just really wanted to use the dodge tool but oh well.

Well, I will admit that a lot of people don't approve of WalMart. But I still like it. I wouldn't be able to function if I didn't have a dirt-cheap department store around. I suppose buying fabric is a bit pointless if you can't sew.
Farming. That actually sounds sort of interesting. Certainly more so than those sports simulations. I like growing things.
I would, however, argue that portions of Kenshin very much fit into the romantic comedy category. Especially early on in the series, before the Kyoto arc. I mean, the full sub-title is something along the lines of "Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story" - and there is plenty of comedy. I mean, in the first episode of the anime, they pull the oldest romantic comedy ploy in the book - the "guy walks in on girl in bath/shower" thing. There's a lot of blood and fighting, yes, but when all that isn't going on, it's romantic comedy.
Maybe it's just because I come from a very conservative family and I know they wouldn't approve, but I just don't like the idea of exposing so much skin. I mean, I suppose it'd be okay on a hot July day, not that different from a bathing suit on the beach (although I refuse to wear bikinis and usually have shorts on when I swim), but the idea of being practically naked doesn't appeal to me. My usual attire (non-cosplay) is a pair of jeans and a sweater/sweatshirt over a t-shirt, which I'll remove if I get warm. I don't even have issues with my weight or appearance - I'm stick-thin and not that ugly - I just don't like skimpy clothing. Cosplay hair issues can be solved simply enough with a decent wig, but I prefer natural hair. Mine is shortish and blonde, so I have an easy time with characters like Kisuke, Genjyo Sanzo, etc. The ones with shortish blond hair. Another major cosplay issue I have is my height. I'm nearly 6 feet tall, which means I have even more trouble cosplaying girls because they're usually so much shorter. I have all the materials right now to make a perfect Bleach schoolgirl outfit, but I have no idea who I would be able to cosplay because the girls are all so darn short. Watch me end up being, like, Ichigo or something -.-' I suppose Rangiku is tall enough, but I don't have the boobs (yet another reason why I'm more fit for crossplay). I have a shihakusho made, too, but the only characters I can consider cosplaying are taichou-Kisuke, Kira Izuru (who I doubt I'll cosplay simply because I think he's a dithering idiot), or maybe... no, I think that's about it.
mmhmm (always wanted to type that), pre-registering is a good idea. I need to pre-register for the ConnectiCon and possibly the I-con, although I'm going to the latter with my anime club.
Ah, anything is an excuse to use the dodge tool. The dodge tool is your friend ^.^ Still think the shading looks odd, but I suppose that's your decision.

Harvest Moon is an awesome series to get into, it's been around since at least the SNES, but it's more of a cult following now. The one on the GBA is definitely the best of the series in my opinion. Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town, and there's a girl version of it called More Friends of Mineral Town, but the basic premise in every game is that you start out pretty poor with a run down farm and it's your job to make it into a success. You can plant, I think at least 20 different crops, not including flowers and grass, you can keep chickens, cows, and sheep. You'll have a dog and a horse, and you can become good friends with the townspeople, you can also marry one of the 5 bachelors or bachelorettes depending on what version your playing, and you can have a kid too. When I first got HM: FOMT, I played for almost 10 hours straight on it, and when I got HM: MFOMT, in about 4 days time I had spent at least 30 hours in the game. They are very addicting games. Yes Kenshin has the weird romance in it, but just about EVERY shounen series has that in it, and they aren't all called romantic comedies. I'm from a rather conservative family as well, but I'm also rather conservative myself. I'm also one of the only ones in this whole area actually, since besides San Francisco and maybe L.A., this town is about THE most liberal town in the whole state. People are real jerks here too. I basically look exactly like this... www.deviantart.com/deviation/29319670/I do not kid... It's 50 bucks right now to pre-reg at fanime, and that's for all 4 days. Eh, I've never been able to pre-reg before, I can never get enough money to do it in time, even right now I don't have the cash because I desperately need to pre-order this video game right now. I'm going to go post in the Artwork Board now too.

Sounds like an interesting concept. Maybe if someone ever gives me a GBA as a gift, I'll go check it out. While we're on the topic of obscurely addicting games, have you ever heard of Column's Crown, for the GBA? My little brother got a copy of it for his GBA as a gift, and I spent hours playing it before he took it away from me and told me I could never touch his GBA again (ah, the joys of having a brother a decade younger than you -.-'). It's sorta like tetris or those other old arcade games in which things fall from the top and you have to keep them from going off the top of the screen, but there's a vs. mode that's really cool. And the characters are all like.... psycho. 0.o' I wouldn't say that every shounen series has weird romance in it, and I would definitely say that Kenshin has more than other series. Actually, to be honest, I'm pretty conservative, too. Just not as much so as my father, who is conservative to the point of ridiculousness. However, I am also surreounded by liberal-types. The majority of Connecticut is, actually, but around here it's especially true. fascinating. I never would have imagined that you had a thick black border around your head I look pretty much like this: i13.photobucket.com/albums/a276/auroraborealis12/001.jpgWhich is good, considering that that's me o.0 Being shinigami-ish. Except I got my hair cut a little shorter since that was taken... I never could understand what they make the prices of conventions so high for. If they just cut it back to like, $30 or something, I bet so many more people would go that they'd make more $$ Yay for artwork board posting ^.^
