Meep. Okay, I'm redoing this post, simply because I can. This is the request board / graphics-updates board/ etc. for my as-yet-unopened graphics site, ECD. I'll open it when I feel like it, so don't ask. However, you are still free to request graphics here, and I will post my various graphics here, as will a few other people. That said, I would like to give some credit to the people, programs, websites, etc. that have helped me with my graphics work. And they are: Programs:+MS Paint (for some pixel work) +MS Notepad (for layout coding work) + JASC Paint Shop Pro 8 (yes, I realize it is now Corel PSP, but that's the newer versions. I have 8, which is a Jasc product...) Coding Assistance Sites:+ Dynamic Drive (for the occasional Java code...) Brush Sites: (And my own brushes, of course. You can download some of my brush sets on this board) Icon Resources: (bases, text brushes, icon accents, etc.) colorfilter @ LJ_joni @ LJeskimo_icons @ LJmasquerademasks @ LJ_shapfragments @ LJbittenicons @ LJgender @ LJprincesae @ LJarisubox @ LJaranelmanveri @ LJobsessiveicons @ LJImage Sources:Advanced Anime (anime CG) Drastic (for s-CRY-ed images) Electra_Torch @ LJ (Bleach screencaps) We Love Anime (anime series images) Bane-Huntress.Com (Saiyuki Images) Anime Project Alliance Gallery (Various Anime Scans) AnimeGalleries.Net (Various Anime Images) Digik Gallery (Various series & artbook scans)

Update the site already. You've got more than enough material to do so, so do it before you end up with so much that it'll take forever.
The layout is <3 +^_^+

Well, they're graphics things. The icons are just icons, for use on forums (like these!), LJ, or whatever else. The brushes (which are only for Paint Shop Pro, at the moment, but I'm looking for someone to convert them to Photoshop brushes) are for making other graphics - it's sorta hard to explain unless you're familiar with graphics programs... but umm... if you've used MS Paint (which I'm going to assume you have), you know how when you draw with the paintbrush, you can use a circle paintbrush or a square one? Well, it's sorta like that, only brushes aren't limited to just circles and squares; they can be just about any shape you want. But not everyone knows how to make them for themselves, or are too lazy to do so, or like to play around with brushes made by others, so some graphics sites (which is what this message board is for - my graphics site) offer premade sets of brushes for people to use.
So... umm... yeah, that's about the best way I can explain brushes. Sorry if it doesn't make much sense. But you know, brushes and icons are only two of the types of graphics offered here - there are also desktop backgrounds, banners and buttons for websites, stationery (although I pretty much leave that to Redheaded Being, since she enjoys it far more than I do), signature images, and website layouts.
There is a site attached to this board, but it's not open yet because I haven't filled it with enough graphics...

well i am very familiar with photoshop, as i use it myself. though i've never taken classes for it so everything i know about it is self taught. if i put time into it i can actually produce half decent results, though my strong point will always lie in actual painting, haha. digital art was never my cup of tea. thanks for explaining though, i didn't know you could download brush sets for photoshop and i'm probably going to look into that.
but yeah, thank you for the explanation as i'm now not entirely clueless about the brushes, and if the forum was specific to one type of icon/graphic/whatnot
edit: both my user icon, and signature were made by me.. though i'm pretty sure the fonts i used for the signature one are positively heinous.

*nods* So you work with Photoshop sometimes? I've tried it, but I've found that the program generally dislikes me. It's a professional program, really, and it's perhaps not the most user-friendly one you'll encounter. Paint Shop Pro is easier to use and can produce similar effects as PS (and it's easier on the wallet, to boot!). But actually, I'm self-taught with graphics, too. Although I am taking a Photoshop class next semester because I need another credit in computer technology and applied arts, and that meets both. But I'm not really looking forward to it. Photoshop hates me, as I've stated before. On the other hand, I do love digital art. Even though I tend to use a digital/pencil-on-paper combo for most of my works. But yeah, back to brushes. They're very useful in graphics work. And you're not just limited to downloading brushes for photoshop, either. People make all sorts of extra downloads for graphics programs - brushes, picture tubes, gradients, and so forth. You'd be surprised what things you can get for your graphics programs if you look around 0.o And you're quite welcome for the explaination. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away. PS: Your icon is cool! I don't know if I would necessarily call the fonts in the signature 'heinous' (it seems a little strong... but on the other hand, it is a fun word ), but I may have chosen something a little different that matched the band pictures a little better...
