Whee! I'm back from the Connecticon, and have managed to upload my photos. Guppies. I gave the URL to these forums to a few people whose pictures I took, but actually, most of the pictures are of me and my group. Oh well. And I suffer from a seriously bad case of red-eye which PSP won't even allow me to remove (yeah, it's that bad. My eyes freaking [glow=red,2,300]GLOW[/glow]. ooooooooh.....) There aren't too many of them because I was a bum and didn't ask a lot of people for pictures... and I was too busy glomping the poor Hakkai cosplayer to death because he was awesome... Anyway, here they are: First up is a Byakuya (from Bleach) cosplayer who we ran into almost as soon as we showed up (btw, I'll probably post the Bleach cosplayers' photos on the Bleach board as well, just for the sake of it). Yay for Bleach cosplayers! Yay. Here's us. Plus the Hakkai cosplayer who we ran into and adopted. For anyone who cares, I'm the Genjyo Sanzo. Told you my eyes glow with abnormal intensity... Another happy Byakuya cosplayer. Speaking of which, we only found two Bleach cosplayers, and they were both Byakuyas. I wanted to find a Kisuke and an Ichigo! Oh well. Next year our group is doing a Bleach-themed cosplay for a day probably, so I'll just have to wait until then... That's our Goku (A.K.A. my little sister) doing Goku-ish things... namely, stuffing her face. And afterward, she decided that she hadn't had enough food, so we pinned this sign to her back. Surprisingly, people actually fed her. She got candy and a chicken finger and celery and more pocky than she could ever figure out what to do with (pocky for dinner for a week!). More begging. Of course. But this time, she had friends. Our Gojyo, a kimono girl named Liz who we ran into, and a Kenshin who we went with (but, obviously, was not part of the Saiyuki group). And a very cool looking Kenshin who we found. Yay! Okay, so he may not be from an anime, but he looked pretty darn cool, so we took a picture of him... for those who don't know (like me when I first saw him), he's Edward Scissorhands... Our group (and adopted Hakkai) again. This time in the gaming room. And even in all that darkness, my eyes still [glow=red,2,300]GLOW[/glow]. It's our adopted Hakkai! We liked him. We liked him a lot. He was cool. So we nearly broke his neck by all glomping him to death. Oh well. One more emotionally scarred Hakkai in the world. I guess that makes him more realistic, in a way... did I mention that we all liked him? And how he was cool and stuff? ---------------------------------------------------- Meep. That's it. Sorry we didn't get a lot of photos (but you must admit that you love the ones we did take). Next year I'll try and get more. Lots more. And if I can persuade the rest of my group, I'll try and do a photo shoot of our three Saiyuki boys... who are actually girls... ~AB

Yeah...I'm still sore from you glomping me too much ;D Nice pictures and costumes! Glowy eyes....ohhhhh....you look like an evil Sanzo. When I get my pictures developed I'll try and put them on here. (no scanner or anything to put them on a computer I'll find a way to put them on here!) P.S. I liked you all too! ;D

Yeah, sorry about that ^_^" but we just couldn't help ourselves... yes. I am an evil Sanzo. But that's a secret. Shhhhh.... If you don't have a scanner, depending on where you get your pictures developed, you can get them scanned and put on a picture CD for you for a few extra bucks. So if you can't find anyone to scan them for you, just look for a photo dveloping place that has picture CD's available. Also, you could take them to any photocopy place (Staples, OfficeMax, etc.) and get them scanned, but that gets pretty expensive... I remember I went and tried to do that once and the guy was like "yeah, it's like $5" and I only wanted to scan like three pictures... so that may not be a good thing to try... But of course, you could just find a friend who has a scanner and impose upon their hospitality a bit... that's always fun. PS: We are very glad you liked us all too. We were a little afraid that we scared you half to death...

My eyes turned red, too . . . Drat it all. But that kind of works, since Gojyo has red eyes anyway. (I might be getting contacts for next year, and definately a wig.) Hey, you asked me what we should cosplay as for the first day back to school; we could wear our Saiyuki costumes! Eliza would just roll her eyes at us and probably refuse to speak to us for the day, but that's alright. +^_^+ Or, if you want to use something you haven't worn to school yet, we could get a head start on our BLEACH outfits. I am now seriously considering cosplaying Renji. Whoa. +O.O+;;; Looking at those pictures . . . The ace bandages worked really well, didn't they?
Sorry for hurting you! I'm sure none of us meant to do that. +^^+;; And Asuka already said what I was going to about your pictures, so nevermind. +^_^+ We're glad you liked us.
Hey Asuka, do you want me to drag up the pictures from last year's CTCon and post them here?

Meep. Not to mention that your eyes aren't neary as red. I am like the world champion of accidental red-eye problems -_-'
We could do Saiyuki, but everyone's seen that already (hooray for school-sponsored cosplay contests!). I'm thinking we should go and do Bleach. Plus if we get a headstart on our costumes, we can do a photo shoot of those for CHLOROX... you want to start with the school outfits or the Shinigami ones?
Oh, and be Renji. Renji's cool. Except his tattooed eyebrows frighten me. You can be Orihime for the schoolgirl outfits, tho' - I'm pretty sure Renji doesn't have one... Byakuya might, though, with all his pretty time...
The ace bandages. My god, don't remind me. *shudders* The inability to breathe still haunts me...
Actually, I'm pretty sure I have the pictures from last year as well, but I don't know where. If you can find them, can you please post them. If not, I'll start looking as well... I know I have the s-CRY-ed ones up on Drastic, but I don't know what I did with the rest...

Your eyes are so glowy its kinda scary . . . +o.o+ I guess it's because they're green. The massive amounts of eyeliner I had on probably helped, too.
Then BLEACH it is! I think we should do the schoolgirl ones, because it'll still be warm in the begining of school, and the shinigami ones would be a heck of a lot harder to freeze one's rear end off in. (You have no clue how cold school uniforms can get. +O.O+;;; *Shivers in memory*) You have the grey fabric, so all we would have to do is get a pattern, some red fabric (I have some but it's stretchy and wouldn't work), and the white shirts. Which we're buying, because that's easier. I'll hunt around for the right ones; I should remember the names of some uniform stores, and if I don't, my mom will (from my days at St. T's). We'll also need two 6-8 inch zippers, four mid-sized grey buttons, and two 14-18 inch zippers. I might have those, so I'll look around. And I need and overly-padded bra. +x.x+'
I decided not to be Renji. The hair would be too difficult to do, even if I got a wig, and due to the massive costume changes we'll be doing, Orihime is a heck of a lot easier. No, Renji does not have a schoolgirl outfit. Byakuya . . . In a girls' school uniform . . . *Bursts out laughing* You should draw that! XD
Gods, I know. I kept breathing deeply for the next two days just because I was happy to be able to do so!
I know exactly where the pictures are, so I'll post them A.S.A.P.! +^_^+

Meep. You can be a schoolgirl on the first day if you want... but I'm going ahead with the shihakusho. Maybe I can scare some freshmen, to boot. But I'll do the schoolgirl thing on day 2, maybe. I'm just not that fond of skirts.
I have some red fabric that should be sufficient. I can also pick up the stuff you mentioned the next time I'm at Walmart, which should be relatively soon. After all, it's my favorite source of cheap clearance fabric. Seriously, you can get enough black fabric for a shihakusho for like $15 plus tax... but they have the strangest prices. Seriously, why sell it for $1.87 a yard? why not $1.75 or $2? But whatever. I suppose it doesn't matter much in the scheme of things...
Meep. I may consider drawing Byakuya in a schoolgirl uniform just to make you happy, but it will have to wait until I'm i nthe right mood. Until then, you shall have to satisfy yourself with the two sucky pieces of fan art I plan on posting tomorrow.
Meep. Arbol wants the computer. Shall have to go now ...

Don't we nearly always scare freshmen? Even when we were freshmen? I'm not too fond of most skirts, myself. Especially really short ones. You have to worry about how you're sitting, you can't run, etc. Blah. Okies, so we don't have to get red fabric. $1.87 is a freaky price. Maybe they had a good reason for it, but something tells me that they just wanted to mess with peoples' minds. Hehe, ok. Bye-bye!

Yeah, i suppose so. Heck, we've even been known to scare ourselves (or at least I have...)
That is the precise reason why skirts bug me. I've hung around Sara long enough to know that anything that prevents you from sitting down is a bad thing. Maybe I'll put gym shorts under my skirt...
Nah, I think Walmart just likes to offer the "lowest price always." SOmeone else probably had black fabric for $1.88 a yard -_-'

Yeah, we're pretty good at scaring ourselves. I do that a lot. Either that, or you scare me. You and your "Sanzo is on top of me" talk . . . So disturbing. *Shakes head*
Well, Sara wears short skirts, that's why. And I intend to wear shorts under my skirt, too. Because it's just a smart thing to do. I always wore shorts under my uniform skirts. Always.
Walmart is a weird thing. By the way, are you going there this weekend? `Cause if so I want to get some blue fabric and some green for another shihakusho.

Yes, well, if you think about it, he really was on top of me... (for those who may be reading this and being uttrely confused, I have a nearly life-size Sanzo wallscroll on my cieling right above my bed...)
Shorts under the skirt is a very good idea, and I intend to do the same.
I dunno. I might go to Walmart, depending on whether or not my mom decides to give me money. If not, all I have is pocket change... about five dollars worth of pocket change...
Wait, you want to make a GREEN shihakusho? Cool.

I know he technicallywas on top of you, but it just sounds so wrong. And that's why you keep saying it; to disturb me and try to break my miiiiind!
Well, either green or blue, I'm not sure yet. It depends on the shade of fabirc I find, and which colors go together. Hey, what if I be really annoying, make a blue shihakusho, and put box pleats in it, so that when I move, green fabric is visible? That might be really cool. Or just really weird. What say you?

Post by Asuka Was Here on Aug 3, 2005 0:15:01 GMT -5
Yes, I do desire to break your miiiiind.... just kidding.
Personally, I think that if you were going to do the box pleats, it would really depend on what the specific fabric colors were. If the blue and the green clash too much, it'll look terrible, but a nice color combo could come out quite nicely. Although, personally, I think all hakama should be solid-colored unless you're using a print fabric... speaking of which, it could be really nice if you used a blue or green oriental print from Walmart - they're only like $3-4 per yard and they're really pretty. On the other hand, they may not be heavy enough to pleat...

What the heck happened there? Oh, it said I wasn't logged in. I was, though . . . Whatever. Am re-posting, Asuka, I guess that should be deleted.
Save the minds! +^.^+'
Box pleats also depend on just how much work I want to do, and thinking about that . . . Well, box pleats should be kept for skirts only! Too much work (though if that was what the hakama had, that's what I would do), and it might now work. Nah, I'm good at choosing colors, so I'm not worried about them clashing. And I'm definately using a solid fabric!
The oriental prints are very pretty, but like you said, I don't think they'd pleat very well. Though, for use in just making a kimono top, I think they'd work nicely.
Haha, a lamé (the shiny fabric from hell) shihakusho! That would be a lesson in torture and patience! And nothing I care to do.

Ungubally. So I take it that means no box pleats...
Maybe one of these days I'll make a kimono out of oriental print fabric... but not until I make a HAPPY KISUKE OUTFIT!!!! Complete with attachable stubble...
OMG. Don't even suggest that, Redheaded Being. The shiny fabric from hell must diiiiieeee......

Yeah, no box pleats. That would take far too much effort, and I'm lazy. That and if they're not done corredctly, they can look really crappy. Like the cheerleading skirts from St. T's, Yucks. Maroon and yellow look really bad. I like the oriental print fabric. I'm going to get some of it and do something with it. What, I'm not sure, but something ... Maybe a pillowcase. I liked that idea. Kisuke's outfit looks so comfy. Actually, it looks like pajamas. And pajamas are always comfy. Most of the time at least. You can try looking for, like, a face wig. +o.O+; Or shave your face. But if you do that- I shall have to laugh. And then get you an appointment for laser hair removal. But it's pretty ...

*chokes and dies* they were MAROON and YELLOW!?!? gross 0.o Hey, no fair the pillow case was my idea! But I suppose you can steal it. Who knows, maybe we can sell oriental pillowcases for anime club, too :S Is it just me, or are we managing to have an entire store selection that appeals exclusively to the female gender? I mean, bracelets, earrings, pretty purple pillowcases...? Me. Want. Kisuke outfit!!! Face wig. whoa 0.o. I don't see how shaving my face would help, since there's nothing on my face to shave. Except eyebrows. Which I have tried shaving. Christine F. tried shaving them once, too. My eyebrows, not hers 0.o But I won't go any further down that path. Maybe I shall locate that black-fuzz-in-a-jar that they sell at craft stores and glue it to me.

Maroon and yellow. Our school colors were maroon and gold, but gold fabric is tempermental, and they were too cheap to buy gold stuff, so it was yellow. Yuck.
Well, yes, it was your idea, but it's a good, pretty idea. And you didn't mind anyway. +^_^+ Yeah, you're right, but that's because we are female, and we're making things that appeal to us. I suppose we should find something to make that would appeal to males, too, but the question is: What? Maybe we should ask Tyler and the few male friends we have for any ideas. The pillowcases don't have to be exclusively purple, though that is appealing ... But here we go again with the 'appealing to girls' thing! Oh well.
Yes ... Kisuke outfit looks like PJ's ...
Well, if you shave your face where a beard would be, eventually you'd grow one. That's how a lot of the "beaded ladies" in circuses had beards. Shaving eyebrows is silly. I prefer pluckihng, it lasts longer, and then you don't get really heavy eyebrow hairs on your brow. I like my tweezers, thanks. You told me about that incident.
Black-fuzz-in-a-jar? What's that?

Ewwww... Maroon and yellow. Gross.
Come to think of it, would anyone actually buy pillowcases if we made them? Maybe we'll just make them for ourselves.
And if we need ideas for stuff for guys, maybe we should leave a suggestion box or something.
Redheaded Being. No beard. Get over it.
And shaving eyebrows is not silly, it's far less painful and far more efficient than stupid tweezers.
Black-fuzz-in-a-jar is like white-fuzz-in-a-jar, only black.

Ya know, they probably wouldn't. But I bet we could get Julianne and Maegan and maybe grace to make custom orders ... At least we could try, anyway. But I must make one. Or more than one. +^_^+
No beard is good, for you with a beard would scare the daylights out of me. Now that[/b] would break my brain!
Oh, you get used to the slight pain from tweazers, and as long as you pull in the direction that the hair is growing, it really doesn't hurt at all. And when you tweaze your eyebrows, they don't come back as quickly than if you shaved them.
I don't know what any fuzz-in-a-jar is, regardless of it's color!
